Snow in Kamloops

Finally it is snowing..............
We have waited a long time to see this happen :-)
Yesterday in the evening about 8pm it started snowing. As an result of that the little road down our dorms to the TRU was so slippery that the cars were sliding down because they couldn't get a grip. A big chaos and the closing of the street were the results for the next two hours. We used the snow to start a snowballfight against some of our friends at Upper College Heights...As I woke up in the morning I took some pictures to show you how Kamloops looks right now....

Halloween 2007

I nearly forgot to show you how Halloween is celebrated here ....
We definetly had a lot of fun after having some drinks at the dorms and then going out early in order to beat the line at the entrance of the Max....
I was a very funny evening with lots of fantastic costumes...In my opinion you can't compare that with our "Fasching".
My costume was the black spiderman and Basti lent his costume from our roommate who was India Jones this year!

Vancouver Canucks vs Edmonton Oilers

For wednesday I organized a pretty decent trip.....I got some tickets from Ebay for nearly the same price as the normal retail price would be ....So only a 4 hour ride to Vancouver was still to do..After finsihing my last class at 11.30 we started to catch all the other people in order to pack them into the car to start on time at 12 AM.
The car was packed because we were 5 people crowded together in a little Saturn Sedan.
the roas conditions weren't that bad as we expected them so we could get trought Vancouver without major problems. But we somehow lost our navigation when we tried to get to the GM-Place stadium so we had to pass trough nearly 30 red traffic lights ..which delayed our schedule for at least one hour :-(
At 5PM we finally arrived at the stadium and started to walk into Chinatown to get some food and meet some friends of my buddies who are studiying in Vancouver.
Shortly before the game started we cheked into the stadium and where shocked when we saw the prices....
IT WAS 8 dollar for a 250 ml beer in a plastic cup....furthermore the parking was already 25 Bucks :-(
To give you a little insight I took a video of the beginning:

NHL ice hockey is way better than the local Kamloops Team so that was already the first advantage but that shouldn't last for long...
Both teams didn't manage to score the puck into the game so we got to see an overtime and a shootout. A friend of mine told me the next day that this game must have been one of the most boring ones in history because he heard it on the sports channel news..
He mentioned that it has got a rank in the 10 worst NHL games ....
In the end the Oilers won after they tricked Luongo with their last penalty shoot.
Watch it here!!
